Correcting for Misalignment in Bidirectional Printing More Precisely (Detailed)

This adjustment is necessary in the following situation.

MEMO:

You must perform this adjustment to match the object to be printed on. Pay attention to the following points.

  • When printing a test pattern, use the actual object to be printed on or something that has the same height.
  • The size of the (detailed) test pattern is 300 × 220 mm (11.8 × 8.7 in.). Ensure that the object to be printed on is large enough to print the test pattern.
  1. Press MENU.
  2. Press several times to display the screen shown below.


  3. Press once, and then press twice to display the screen shown below.


  4. Press to display the screen shown below.


  5. Press ENTER.
    Printing of the test pattern starts.
  6. When printing is finished, press to display the screen shown below.


  7. Press to display the screen shown below.


  8. View the printed test pattern, and then determine the "No. 1" correction value.
    Select the value that gives the least misalignment between the two lines. In the case of the following figure, select "−6" for H1. When you cannot choose between two sequential numbers, select a value that is between them (you can set correction values in units of "0.5").


  9. Set the correction values from "H1" to "H4."
    1. Press or to select a value from H1 to H4.
    2. Press or to select the correction value.


    3. When you have finished setting the correction values, press ENTER.
      The screen shown below appears again.


  10. Press to display the screen shown below.


  11. Set the correction values from "H1" to "H4" in the same manner as step 9.
  12. Set the correction values for "H1" to "H4" of "DETAIL SETTING NO. 3" and "DETAIL SETTING NO. 4" in the same manner as steps 10 and 11.
  13. Press to display the screen shown below.


  14. Press ENTER.
    Printing of the test pattern starts.
  15. Check the test pattern to see whether the correction was successful.
    For all the correction values, check that the misalignment is minimized for the two vertical lines indicated by "" (that is, the current correction value). If the misalignment is smaller for another set of vertical lines, set the correction value again.
  16. When you have successfully performed the correction, press MENU, then to go back to the original screen.
