Using Transparent Media

You can even set up transparent media by setting "SHEET TYPE" to "CLEAR" and manually setting the media width and the loading position.

Normally, detecting the leading and trailing edges of the media enables you to verify the presence of the media, and the media is then ready for setup. However, since transparent media cannot be detected, setup will not be possible.

1. Set the media type to "CLEAR".

Procedure
  1. Press [MENU].
  2. Press [▼] several times to display the screen shown below.


  3. Press [▶] to display the screen shown below.


  4. Press [▶] to display the screen shown below.


  5. Press [▲] or [▼] to select "CLEAR".


  6. Press [ENTER] to confirm your entry.
    MEMO:
    • Default setting: "OPAQUE"
    • When set to "CLEAR", printing operation does not stop when the media runs out. If media runs out while printing is in progress, immediately press [PAUSE] to stop printing. Otherwise, there is a chance that the platen or other parts may become soiled by ink or that ink may get inside and damage the machine.

2. Set the media width.

Procedure
  1. Press [◀], then [▼] to display the screen shown below.


  2. Press [▶] to display the screen shown below.


  3. Press [▲] or [▼] to enter the width of the media.
  4. Press [ENTER].
  5. Press [MENU] to go back to the original screen.
    MEMO:
    • Default setting: "1625 mm"
    • When you select the "CLEAR" setting, printing is performed with media assumed to be at the set media width. Set "SHEET WIDTH" correctly according to the actual media width. Otherwise, there is a chance that the platen or other parts may become soiled by ink or that ink may get inside and damage the machine.

3. Load transparent media in the machine.

Procedure
  1. Load the media.
  2. Press [MENU].
  3. Press [▼] several times to display the screen shown below.


  4. Press [▶] once, and then press [▼] several times to display the screen shown below.


  5. Press [▶].

    The print-head carriage moves to the currently set position, and then the screen shown below is displayed.



  6. Open the front cover.
  7. Press [◀] or [▶] to move the print-head carriage's base point mark to the right edge of the media.

    IMPORTANT:
    If a fixed period of time passes while the setting procedure is in progress, the menu is closed.

    The print heads are forcibly returned to the home position to prevent them from drying out. In this case, perform the procedure again from step 2.

    MEMO: To quit the procedure for setting the position of the right edge of the media
    1. Close the front cover.
    2. Press [▼] to display the screen shown below.

    3. Press [ENTER].
      The print-head carriage returns to the home position.
  8. After positioning, close the front cover.
  9. Press [ENTER] to confirm your entry.
    This completes setup.
